The Sky That Made Us Three

There are moments in life that you know, even as they are happening, you will never forget.

For my wife and me, one of those moments came at 07:11 on 28 February 2018, when our daughter, Kaya, was born.

In an instant, we became a family of three, and life changed forever.

When I discovered ChronoAstra and the idea of recreating the exact sky from a specific moment in time, I knew immediately which moment I wanted my watch to represent: the sky above London at the exact moment Kaya came into our lives.

I chose the 40mm ChronoAstra with a blue aventurine dial, silver Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet, together with black leather and blue and black rubber straps. The aventurine dial felt perfectly suited to a watch built around the stars, with its depth and subtle sparkle changing as the light catches it.

On the caseback are our names, alongside the date, time and location of that moment, making the watch completely unique to our family.

The whole experience of creating it was part of what made it special. Communication throughout the process was fantastic, and I genuinely felt involved and kept informed from beginning to end.

When the watch finally arrived, I was struck by just how beautiful it was. The aventurine dial has a depth that photographs simply do not capture, and the overall quality, finishing and feel of the titanium case and bracelet exceeded my expectations.

But ultimately, that is not what makes this watch important to me.

Every time I look at the dial, I am not simply looking at a representation of the stars.

I am looking at our sky — the sky above London at 07:11 on 28 February 2018, when Kaya came into our lives and made us a family of three.
