A 50th Birthday Gift to Myself

The watch arrived a few days ago, and my first thought when I opened the box was simply: wow, this looks awesome. I bought it as a gift to myself for my 50th birthday, which is coming up soon. I wanted something special to mark the occasion — not necessarily the most expensive watch, but something that would have a character of its own and that I would genuinely enjoy wearing. And I have to admit, this watch surprised me. I own quite a few watches, from Rolex, Glashütte Original, Breitling, Panerai and Omega, Garmin, all the way to a Casio Royale in a titanium case and many others in between. But I don't really consider myself a collector. I'm more of a watch enthusiast. I buy watches to wear them and enjoy them, and each one has its own story, purpose and place in my life. After wearing this one, I have to say that it has already taken first place among my elegant watches. There are only two things I would personally wish for in the future: a more sophisticated movement and perhaps a little higher water resistance. But neither is a real requirement for me, especially considering what this watch is meant to be. The workmanship is excellent, and the way the watch is presented is equally impressive. You can feel that a lot of thought and care went into the whole experience, not just the watch itself. I'm also quite sure this watch is going to attract a lot of attention in my circle of watch enthusiasts. It is different enough to make people stop, look at it, and ask about it — and that is something I really appreciate. For my 50th birthday, I think I chose very well.
